Faith, Health and Rights
Nearly 100 men and women from different faith traditions gathered last July 1, 2017 for conversations, and in the process identified areas for convergence and collaboration. Towards the end, everyone committed to making their respective contributions in promoting health from human rights perspective with faith dimension. This interfaith gathering was in partnership with other faith-based and secular organizations such as the Imam Council of the Philippines, United Church of the Philippines, Iglesia Filipina Independiente, University of the Philippines-Institute of Islamic Studies, EngendeRights, and the Philippine Commission on Population (POPCOM).
With the theme “Faith, Health, and Rights,” the coming together of leaders from different faith traditions was aimed at creating a platform of dialogue and understanding for
- Conversations: Using the faith perspective, discuss and analyze the challenges and opportunities for the promotion of people’s health and rights
- Convergences: Find common grounds rooted in religious and universal values of love, compassion, respect, inclusivity, and social justice
- Collaborations: Identify rights-based approaches and areas for working together in improving people’s health and life situation
- Commitments: Build networks for nurturing dialogues, learning, and collective actions among people of faith.
